Affordable Cleansers for Your Skin Type

At a young age, skin care was introduced to me by my mother, as she would always apply Pond’s Cold Cream (which you see listed for three of the skin types — because it is that good!) to her face to remove her makeup. After that, at the age of 15, a family member of mine took me to a Clinique counter and let me have my first full facial by the associate there. I was so amazed and took in as much information as I could. Since then, I have become interested in proper skin care and how to treat different skin types.  I have learned and trying products on myself, so, I am sharing some of my favorite products that should work on a few different skin types.

A weekly or bi-weekly facial wash or scrub is good for this skin type. Look for moisturizers that have SPF in it.

1. Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser

2. Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser

3. Dove Go Fresh Foaming Facial Cleanser

4. Skinnygirl Face Solutions Vitamin C Face Scrub

Oily Skin

Oily skin types should look for oil-free cleansers to diffuse excess sebum of the skin. Keep your skin hydrated throughout the day to battle your skin from producing more oil.

1. Paula’s Choice Hydralight One Step Face Cleanser

2. Garnier The Radiance Renewer Cleansing Gelee

3. Clean and Clear Deep Action Oil Control Face Wash

4. Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser

Dry Skin

Use products that have a high water content to aid in hydration of the skin. Look for moisturizers that protect against water loss and that have SPF in it.

1. Cerave Hydrating Cleanser

2. Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser

3. The Body Shop Aloe Calming Facial Cleanser

4. Eucerin Gentle Hydrating Cleanser

Combination Skin

Combination skin is a form of sensitive skin, so look for facial washes that balance your skin type.

1. Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Gentle Hydrating Cleanser

2. Biore Combination Skin Balancing Cleanser

3. Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Oil-Reducing Cleanser

Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin types should use hypoallergenic cleansers that are formulated, only, for sensitive skin. Do avoid products containing alcohol and perfume and do avoid products with scrubbing bead. Certain beads in facial cleansers can irritate the skin and cause more problems.

1. Burt’s Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser

2. Clinique Acne Solutions Oil-Control Cleansing Mask

3. Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Cleanser

4. DuDu-Osun African Black Soap
